Hi again! Let's kick off our inaugural Impulse Insights Newsletter in style.
INBOUND19 was fire! A month later and we're still talking about our takeaways and experiences. Whether you missed the event or you’re just looking for a way to digest it all, we’ve got you! Check out our wrap-up.
Content marketers from around the world met in Cleveland last week for the 9th annual CMWorld. Check out these takeaways from some of the industry’s best leaders.
On a recent episode of Wistia’s Brandwagon series, the crew heads to NYC and sits down with Brendan Gaul, the Global Chief Content Officer at UM Worldwide, a top-notch ad and media agency. Learn about their recent award-winning work for Johnson & Johnson and how having a brand with a clear purpose—and point of view—is more important than ever. Plus, we get an update on our favorite ’91 Volvo.
Podcasting may not be the end-all-be-all marketing silver bullet, but it’s definitely a communications strategy we should all explore and give some strategic thought to in our businesses. Whether you’re creating your own podcast or appearing on other shows as a subject matter expert, podcasting can and will help you find a new, bigger audience.
Are you using Ahrefs to its fullest potential? To help you answer that question, our partners at Databox asked 97 marketers to give us their best tips for using the tool.
Remington spoke at INBOUND19 in September, teaching about a winning conversational strategy. He even offered chatbot templates to help.
Did you know that you can get help with your conversational strategy with Impulse Creative? From content to services, we’re here to help!

Captain’s Thought of the Week
Execution vs. Implementation
I recently heard a very smart person mention execution vs implementation. She referenced that "Execution is by definition strategic", while implementation is marking something off the list.
..."And I think execution is at times by definition strategic". So for example, you can say "here's how you execute a website page and HubSpot" But ultimately, you need to write copy for that page and you need to choose call to action. You need to do all those things. And those things are not tactical, though they are implementation. You have to know the strategy. Why would I put a call to action to do this here?...."
Let's think about that.
I asked the team to consider wow we’re handling execution for our clients initiatives vs implementing. Are we holding the strategic ropes to drive results (and get things done)? Or are we implementing a program and not being intentional. We strive to help out clients truly grow. Asking ourselves this question is critical.
As we look at the rest of the year, we’re unpacking how we can focus on executing what's needed to help our clients hit their goals.
Ever forward!
Remington
